Global Ursuline Education Conference

Johannesburg 2017

Our Principal Ann Marie Pawsey and Deputy Principal Kay Gleeson attended the first day of the Global Ursuline Education Conference on Monday 31st July 2017 in Johannesburg at Brescia House School.

The conference has provided many opportunities to converse with fellow Ursulines, explore the local area, visit Mandela house and Brescia House School.

It has also been a fantastic opportunity to catch up with our Global Connections from other Ursuline schools around the world.

Pictured below are the staff and students from Brescia House School (Johannesburg) who visited St Ursula's College in August 2016 catching up with Ann Marie and Kay.

St Ursula's students have travelled to Santa Teresa Mission for an Immersion experience.  They arrived on Saturday 22nd April and commemorated ANZAC Day with a solemn prayer service overlooking the community.

The group visiting Santa Teresa consists of nine students and two staff members.  So far they have worked in the community centre, experienced the Santa Teresa Spirituality Centre Northern Territory and made new friends on the basketball court as the sun set.

The second group from Materdei (Thailand) arrived at the College on Sunday afternoon for a two week stay.  They were welcomed to the College and joined in the College Cross Country on Monday.

Tuesday was Anzac Day - a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations and the contribution and suffering of all those who served. The group joined our Boarding Students at the morning Anzac service held at the Mothers Memorial in Toowoomba.

The Ursuline School - New Rochelle.  2017 Exchange

On Easter Saturday (15th April 2017) we had the pleasure of greeting the New Rochelle Exchange students.  The group arrived in Sydney earlier in the week before flying into Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport on Saturday.  The St Ursula's College families provided some fun experiences over the Easter weekend, taking the girls to visit the beaches, local farms and sights around Toowoomba.

The Principal Administration, Mrs Carol Killebrew and Head of Science Ms Robyn Summa enjoyed visiting the area and were keen to try an Aussie Flat White Coffee during their stay!

The TUS students enjoyed a day of classes at St Ursula's College with their host sisters before departing on Thursday.
